American Red Cross Founder Clara Barton Postage Stamp. U. S. postage stamp issued in 1948 commemorating the founder of the American Red Cross. The stamp was issued on September 7, 1948. Barton founded and was the first president of the American Association of the Red Cross. She wan instrumental in locating many soldiers who were missing in action.
