Description
Title: "A plan of the city and environs of Philadelphia." This is a detailed vintage map reproduction. The original was issued in 1777. It showed many landmarks around Philadelphia and featured the building now known as Independence Hall. It was originally published by Matthias Albrecht Lotter who updated the work of Scull & Heap. The many details make it a valuable historical reference. It shows the area at the time of the American revolution. Interesting features include names of landowners, place names, and location of a cheval de frise on the Delaware River intended to block British ships supplying the British army.
I have selected interesting, old graphic images for digital restoration and editing. The images were then adjusted and brightened to make the images suitable for display and other purposes. The resulting image brings out many details and landmarks, making this map a great historical reference and conversation piece. © 2020 for this enhanced, restored reproduction.
