This is a photograph of an antique MD emblem that was probably used by doctors making house calls. It is a depiction of the Rod of Asclepius with the letters MD. This tag was photographed on the grill of an antique automobile.

Notice the single snake which was the correct medical symbol. Two intertwined snakes (the caduceus) is often mistakenly shown as the symbol of medicine.
